Board Chair to continue as Interim Head of WVU Foundation
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Foundation Board of Directors announced today (2/10/07) that Chairman David W. Hamstead will continue as interim president and chief executive officer of the Foundation until such time as a new leader is in place. The decision was made at the Foundation Board's Saturday meeting.
“The Board continues to look at viable candidates,” said Mr. Hamstead, “and in the near future, we expect to be in a position to announce our selection. I will remain in the interim role until that person is on board at the Foundation.”
Mr. Hamstead, who has served on the Board since 1995, assumed the interim duties with the retirement of F. Duke Perry on January 31. A 1963 WVU graduate, he is retired from Price Waterhouse & Co.
The Foundation Board is comprised of leaders in business, the professions and civic affairs, who hail from West Virginia and across the nation. All serve without compensation. They volunteer their time and energy, contribute their considerable expertise, and give of their own resources to support the University.
The WVU Foundation, Inc. is a private non-profit corporation that was chartered in 1954 to secure, hold, and administer funds and properties given by individuals, corporations and philanthropic foundations in support of West Virginia University and its non-profit affiliates.
