The WVU Foundation is an independent not-for-profit corporation, 501(c)(3) tax exempt charitable organization (tax ID #55-6017181). It is governed by the Board of Directors elected by its members. All serve without compensation. Currently, there are 28 members of the Board of Directors. The WVU Foundation also has 23 directors emeritus and three ex officio directors, all of whom are non-voting.
