University's Presidential Search Committee Chairman Steve Goodwin has
announced official finalists for the 22nd presidency of WVU. All will
visit campus the first two weeks in April to meet with various
constituency groups.
They are: Daniel O. Bernstine, President of Portland State University; Michael S. “Mike” Garrison, managing member of the Morgantown office of Spilman Thomas & Battle PLLC; M. Duane Nellis, Provost, Kansas State University.
“The finalists selected represent strong and varied backgrounds,” Goodwin said. “The c
ommittee is proud to forward the names of these
accomplished leaders for further consideration by the Board. I
encourage people to meet each of these candidates as they come to
campus and see the strengths they offer us in continuing the great
progress of WVU.”
Goodwin also thanked the 17-member search
committee, who he said “worked very hard,” reviewing dozens of resumes,
conducting reference checks and holding interviews.
"Our goal as a committee was to present several
solid candidates with an eye for the future of this institution -- and
we reached strong consensus in completing this last task," Goodwin
said. "The search committee took their roles very seriously, and I am
extremely appreciative of their dedication to the process. We had very
busy people involved in this search, and each one of them gave it top
priority and enthusiastically and unselfishly dedicated all of the
necessary time to each stage in our process."
The finalists will meet on campus with students,
faculty, staff and community members in scheduled forums the week of
April 2-5 and week of April 9th. The specific times and locations
within these days will be announced after the schedules are complete.
