Founded in 1867, West Virginia University is the flagship land-grant, doctoral degree-granting research university in the state of West Virginia. As such, the institution occupies a unique position within the state.

Based on input from the business community, the College of B&E’s curriculum builds a solid foundation in core business principles and the crucial skills needed to compete in the current job market. U.S. News & World Report ranks the College among the top quartile of AACSB-accredited undergraduate programs in the country.
College of Creative Arts
With more than 100 faculty and staff and nearly 800 students, the College of Creative Arts combines performance and education that address both traditional and innovative approaches to art, design, music, theatre, and dance. The college has become a national and international resource noted for the exchange, creative collaboration, research, publication, and presentation of the visual and performing arts.

College of Engineering and Mineral Resources
Located on the Evansdale Campus, the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources is dedicated to the development of engineering practice, science and research. The College offers degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels with all undergraduate engineering programs accredited by ABET. The College encompasses three primary buildings that provide students a great learning experience in the classroom, laboratory, and research.

College of Human Resources and Education
The College of Human Resources & Education was established in 1927 as a separate college within WVU. In 1965, the College expanded to include programs that prepare related professionals in non-school positions. The current mission of the College acknowledges the diverse nature of its programs while continuing to adhere to its historic tradition of preparing educational professionals.
