Founded in 1867, West Virginia University is the flagship land-grant, doctoral degree-granting research university in the state of West Virginia. As such, the institution occupies a unique position within the state.

Based on input from the business community, the College of B&E’s curriculum builds a solid foundation in core business principles and the crucial skills needed to compete in the current job market. U.S. News & World Report ranks the College among the top quartile of AACSB-accredited undergraduate programs in the country.

College of Creative Arts
With more than 100 faculty and staff and nearly 800 students, the College of Creative Arts combines performance and education that address both traditional and innovative approaches to art, design, music, theatre, and dance.  The college has become a national and international resource noted for the exchange, creative collaboration, research, publication, and presentation of the visual and performing arts.

Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources
Located on the Evansdale Campus, the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources is dedicated to the development of engineering practice, science and research. The College offers degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels with all undergraduate engineering programs accredited by ABET. The College encompasses three primary buildings that provide students a great learning experience in the classroom, laboratory, and research.

College of Education and Human Services
The College of Education and Human Services was established in 1927 as a separate college within WVU. In 1965, the College expanded to include programs that prepare related professionals in non-school positions. The current mission of the College acknowledges the diverse nature of its programs while continuing to adhere to its historic tradition of preparing educational professionals.

College of Law
The College of Law provides students a unique opportunity to attend a small public law school within a nationally recognized research university.  To fulfill its commitment to individual student success and to improving the profession by producing the leaders of the future, the College has a rapidly developing curriculum that combines the best of traditional legal education with new courses and opportunities necessary to practice law in a global economy in the 21st Century.

College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences
The College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences is comprised of two academic departments: The Department of Coaching and Teaching Studies and the Department of Sport Studies. The college offers degrees in Athletic Training, Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Sport Management.  Both faculty and academic programs of the College have achieved state, district and national recognition.

Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design
The Davis College houses 5 divisions: Animal and Nutritional Sciences, Design and Merchandising, Plant and Soil Sciences, Forestry, and Resource Management, with varied programs of study and multiple degree options.  It is the University’s oldest Academic Unit and uses 3,425 acres of farmland and 8,134 acres of forest for teaching and research.

Eberly College of Arts and Sciences
The Eberly College is the largest and most diverse of WVU’s schools and colleges. Every student at WVU will take at least one course in the Eberly College before they graduate.  The college consists of 16 buildings primarily located on the downtown campus.

Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism
Founded in 1939, the P.I. Reed School of Journalism has one of the oldest and finest journalism programs in the nation. The School is deeply rooted in tradition, but innovative, student-centered curriculum and state-of-the-art equipment prepare students to be 21st century communicators.
