Regional Development Officer


The West Virginia University Foundation, Inc., a non-profit specifically designed to aid, further, and support the work and purposes of West Virginia University, is seeking a professional to join our fundraising team as Regional Development Officer.

This position reports to the Director of Regional Development and is a member of the WVU Foundation's central development team.

The Regional Development Officer will represent the entire range of University needs and priorities to alumni and other friends throughout an assigned geographic region. Working closely with development staff at the University’s flagship campus in Morgantown and its regional campuses, the successfully candidate will build a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, and solicit outright and planned gifts of $25,000 or more.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree. A minimum of three years of direct and progressively responsible experience in major gift fundraising or other employment involving similar direct client engagement is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in higher education, with experience at a comprehensive research university, and/or familiarity with planned giving/financial planning concepts. Strong written, verbal, organization and interpersonal skills are required. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and possess the ability to work as a team member within a complex organization requiring collaboration, teamwork, and communication. The position requires frequent regional and national overnight travel.
