Video: 'Private giving says everything about how we are a community at WVU'

The West Virginia University School of Pharmacy has been a pioneer in the education of pharmacists for over a century.

With more than 3,400 alumni in practice around the world, over 1,800 are working in West Virginia.

“The Pharmacy School has given me guidance,” said fourth year student Lexi Kolar. “They have provided us with incredible baseline knowledge that we all need to be pharmacists one day. They truly don’t just want to see us succeed, they give us the tools to succeed.”

Private giving, though, is vital to strengthen and enhance the school’s mission to ‘improve the health of West Virginians and our global community by developing exemplary pharmacists and scientists; conducting meaningful research; advancing pharmacy practice.’

“I think it says everything about how we are a community here at West Virginia University,” Kolar said. “Every college student experiences some sort of financial strain throughout their college experience.

“(Private giving) is truly a gift to those students so that they don’t have to worry as much about ‘how am I going to pay for this?’ They can focus more on learning the material and doing what is really important.”

Together we can change lives.
