A new center at West Virginia University is working with communities across the region to address many of West Virginia’s most complex challenges.
Earning the Bucklew Scholarship has opened many doors worldwide for West Virginia University sophomore Georgia Beatty, who will study abroad next academic year in Germany.
The Southern New Jersey Chapter of West Virginia University’s Alumni Association has established an endowed scholarship in memory of WVU graduate Eric Schaetzle. Eric passed away in a car accident shortly after graduating from WVU with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
When their family members struggle with substance use disorders, children bring experiences of neglect, trauma and often, mental health issues into the classroom, creating challenging environments for their teachers. Researchers at West Virginia University have evaluated the impact of the opioid crisis in classrooms across the Mountain State through a survey of 2,205 teachers in 49 counties.
Burkey and Marylou Lilly were proud graduates of West Virginia University. As the parents of three children, grandparents of five grandchildren and great grandparents to three great grandchildren, they valued education and service.
WVU Medicine and the WVU Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry held a grand opening today (March 1) for the new WVU Medicine Center for Hope and Healing, a 29,305-square-foot addiction treatment facility that offers 12 beds for subacute medically managed withdrawal residential care and 30 beds for residential care up to 28 days.
