Engineering executive Michael “Mike” John began his three-year term on the West Virginia University Foundation Board of Directors at the Board’s recent March quarterly meeting. The Charleston, West Virginia resident, who founded Northeast Natural Energy in 2009, is currently the company’s president and CEO.
A 1981 graduate of WVU with a degree in petroleum engineering, John previously served as vice president of operations for Chesapeake Energy’s Eastern Division from 2005-2009 where he was instrumental in the drilling, completion and operation of the company’s initial 100 horizontal Marcellus wells across Appalachia.

Generations of alumni and friends will come together on March 26 as West Virginia University holds its eighth Day of Giving, an annual 24-hour fundraising effort organized by the WVU Foundation.

For the first time, the West Virginia University Davis College of Agriculture and Natural Resources equine studies program and WVU English Equestrian Team will host the Intercollegiate Horse Show Associations Zone 2 Championship on Saturday, April 5 at the J.W. Ruby Research, Education and Outreach Center in Reedsville.
